INMOTION #3
P. 50
Engineered
with Purpose.
Built for Care.
Innovation where it matters most
ReviMo is a healthcare robotics startup on a
mission to restore independence for individuals
with mobility limitations. Their breakthrough
product, Niko, is the 昀椀rst portable robotic patient
transfer device designed to make movement
safer and more ef昀椀cient in hospitals and at
home.
THE CHALLENGE
As with many early-stage innovators, ReviMo
faced hurdles bringing their idea to life. The
team struggled to source and integrate precision
motion and sensor technologies, align the device
with real-world clinical work昀氀ows, and prepare
the prototype for healthcare-grade scalability.
THE SOLUTION
Through the MassRobotics Healthcare Catalyst
Program, ReviMo partnered with Novanta
Robotics & Automation. Novanta engineers
provided mentorship, introduced advanced
technologies, and helped re昀椀ne the motion and
control architecture. Crucially, the collaboration
connected ReviMo with clinicians, allowing the
team to incorporate real-world feedback into
the design. Together, they built a functional premarket prototype and developed a roadmap for
manufacturing scale-up.
THE RESULT
The partnership accelerated Niko from
concept to a validated pre-market device,
positioning ReviMo for commercialization. The
enhanced motion system improved safety
and performance, while exposure to new
technologies unlocked long-term innovation
opportunities. ReviMo also gained vital clinical
and commercial connections to fuel its go-tomarket journey.
“We walked away with so much more than
we expected. The Novanta R&D team was
incredibly thoughtful and helped us solve
engineering challenges and 昀椀nd unexpected
ways of achieving better outcomes.”
