INTRODUCTION
Fire昀椀ghting in extreme conditions poses
enormous risks, often making direct human
intervention unsafe or impossible. To address
this, DOK-ING, a global leader in robotic and
autonomous systems, developed the MVF5, a multi-mission robotic 昀椀re昀椀ghting vehicle
designed to protect 昀椀rst responders in the most
hazardous environments.
For the MVF-5 to operate with precision,
advanced motion control and accurate position
feedback were essential. By partnering with
Novanta Robotics & Automation, DOK-ING
integrated high-precision IncOder® Inductive
Angle Encoders, enhancing maneuverability,
reliability, and 昀椀re昀椀ghting effectiveness.
With more than 30 years of innovation and
operations across 40+ countries, DOK-ING has
become a global powerhouse in heavy-duty
robotics. The company holds over 80% of the
global market share in robotic 昀椀re昀椀ghting and
demining systems, with headquarters in Zagreb,
Croatia, and branch of昀椀ces worldwide. Their
mission: safeguard human lives in the most
demanding conditions.

THE CHALLENGE
Fire昀椀ghters regularly face life-threatening
scenarios when tackling industrial and urban
昀椀res. Extreme heat, toxic smoke, inaccessible
spaces, and risks of structural collapse make
these operations unpredictable and dangerous.
The MVF-5 was created to confront these
challenges head-on.
TO BE EFFECTIVE,
THE VEHICLE REQUIRED:
Reliability in hostile environments, including high
heat, moisture, and debris-昀椀lled conditions.
Size: Large thru-hole for pipes and mechanics.
High reliability for critical-use.
Meeting these demands meant integrating
robust technologies capable of withstanding
harsh, unpredictable settings. Traditional
systems were often too fragile for disaster
scenarios, highlighting the need for durable,
high-performance solutions.
